About Me.

Artist Statement

My work exists as an extension of my feminine identity, my personal relationships with friends and family, and my interest in expressive fashion and queer and internet culture. With the use of 2D mixed media, I am able to illustrate these qualities in compositions that express the daily lives of many young women and queer individuals. The subjects and scenes I draw appreciate the everyday and small moments of memory, with an added emphasis on character, fashion, and interior illustration. Gender studies, queer theory, and intersectional feminism, inspires the creative process of my work and the bigger meaning of why I create art. These theories are important to be discussed as they are so often restricted or banned.

Using a mix of alcohol marker, ink pen, colored pencil, and gouache, helps me achieve the colorful, clean, and flat style I have developed throughout my art practice. The style I use is fun, feminine, and unique. The use of pastel colors in my work plays on the fact these colors are seen as traditionally feminine, but I believe that they are for everyone. Femininity is so often criticized and compared as inferior to masculine design, which I disagree with. I use my work as a way to inspire, impact, and uplift others. I hope my audience finds themselves in my art and can celebrate their own uniqueness.
